The Canaan Project by our partner organization Friedensfestival Berlin e.V.,(peacefestival berlin) was founded 2010, organized as a (non-profit) reg. soc. („e.V.“). The association conducts public events about women, peace and security, trilateral conferences (Israel-Palestine-Germany) and workshops on UNSCR 1325 could be conducive in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict solution.
Two conferences were conducted to launch and intensify networking between Israeli and Palestinian women’s activists and organisations. The first one on the 16th of December 2014 in the municipality hall (Rote Rathaus) Berlin (Download Schedule) and the second one in the German Foreign Office on the 30th of October 2018 (Download Invitation).
12 workshops and round tables have been held between 2018 and 2020 in Israel and Palestine with women from all walks of life to inform about UNSCR 1325, stabilize bi- and international networking and work out a 1325-Accord. The outcome of these workshops shall find access to the upcoming issue of the Palestine-Israel-Journal (PIJ) and a publication in Germany in 2020/21.
All our activities taking place in Berlin/Germany, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Bethlehem and are financed by donations and funds. Major partners of the Canaan Project are: UN Women Germany and Women Wage Peace in Israel-Palestine. Patron of the last Canaan Conference was Dr. Bärbel Kofler, Secretary of State for Humanitarian Aid and Human Rights.
